WHY POOL?

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Here it is. I’ve been getting a lot of question about the new name. Why Pool? What does it mean?

After Creative Conspiracy, I began the mental search for a new identity. How do you re-brand yourself? Never an easy task, especially when you have been one thing for over 12 years. I can do it for others, but its always challenging to do this for yourself.

I wanted a name that was short and simple. A name that represented reflection and clarity in business. A name that was in constant motion and was just sort of clean. A pool of ideas, a pool of creativity, a community, fun. It just felt right.

So much of branding is the experience you have with a particular business. If the experience is positive, the brand feels more positive and secure. If the experience is negative, so will the brand. We pride ourselves on our customers experiences with us. We try to make the process of self-branding a good one and one that helps you grow as a business. It can be transformative and is always in constant motion. pool.

THE GARDENS AT JAMES RANCH

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

For those of you who prefer not to wait for the yummy goodness of fresh picked produce, The Gardens at James Ranch is now producing small batches of specialty delights with the fresh picked bounty from their gardens. The Black Currant Jelly is the first in what we hope to be a long line of more mouth watering tastiness. This jelly will be available at their booth at Durango Farmers Market starting this month.

We designed the label using a painting by Jami Tobey, and ultimately this will become the colorful face for this ever growing line of limited edition fresh products.

RUSSELL ENGINEERING WEB SITE DESIGN

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

For a designer to walk into an engineering firm and experience serious space envy is ironic at best, but there you have it. When I first met Joan Russell at Russell Engineering headquarters I couldn’t keep my eyes off the great art (mostly hers), fantastic and cleverly upholstered pieces, the rammed earth wall and I could go on. Actually, I could live there. This is every bit the creative team, in both their work and their cool digs. So the challenge was to evolve their brand into a statement that walked the line between the precise lines of an engineer and the organic nature of their philosophy. Their new web site is live now and ready for showing. We developed this site in cahoots with Aaron Heirtzler of Aaron Heirtzler Creative and he did a fantastic job of bringing structure and order to a large amount of content in a fluid and clean manner. Check it out.

DURANGO WINE EXPERIENCE, 2009

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

It’s that time of year again. Durango Wine Experience is upon us beginning April 30th, signaling the start of spring here in Durango. Some of us look to the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic, others… new wines to try. This years poster design bows down to the rich saturated colors of velvet brocade and a traditional letterpress printing. We sought to highlight elements from our old western town of Durango, embrace them and spin them in a new way.

Speaking from experience, I highly recommend the event. Whether you attend a seminar beefing up your cocktail talking points or roam, walk or stumble around downtown for the Friday night moving tasting, there is sure to be a little something for wine enthusiasts of all varietals.

JAKI’S EYE MAKEUP REMOVER CLOTH

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

We just got the Jaki’s Eye Makeup Remover package hot off the press. This is a very soft makeup remover cloth that’s gentle on the eyes and easy to stuff in your bag and go. Keep the smudgies away.
We printed our Jaki girl up in two different colorways to bring some more appeal to the clip strip hanging system. There’s no difference between two. Are you a warm tone or a cool tone?

At the moment they can be found at Nature’s Oasis in Durango, Colorado.

HOME GROWN FESTIVAL – Insider Ale

Friday, January 30th, 2009

The Home Grown Festival in Durango Colorado was a hit last October. One of the highlights of the event was the pressing of local apples collected by students from Fort Lewis College that have been turned into beer brewed by the Bootleggers Society which is made up from the 4 local breweries (Ska Brewing, Durango Brewing , Steamworks Brewing and of course Carver Brewing Co.) in our fabulous town.

The beer is now available on tap at all the breweries for a very limited time and will also be available at the local liquors stores starting on Tuesday February 3rd. All proceeds from sales at the liquor stores will help fund next years Home Grown Festival.
