LED KITCHEN GARDEN BY SONNY LIGHT

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Get your bag of seed starter out- it’s time to plant! While it is the middle of January and Mother Nature has left us with no less than 8 inches of fresh snow outside last night, a lucky few us get to get our hands in the dirt. SonnyLight has received its first shipment of  LEDKitchenGarden and LEDGrowGarden grow lights. They look smart, are green, are easy to use and best of all inexpensive to run due to the LED technology. And, we are particularly fond of the logo.

I don’t know about you, but having a garden ripe tomato with fresh basil in the heart of winter borders on being scandalous. And I intend to jump whole heartedly into the veggie bacchanal!

LOCAL FIRST HOLIDAY WRAPPING PAPER

Monday, December 14th, 2009

I have always loved wrapping paper. It’s forever been one of those desires, albeit sort of latent and undisclosed, that I would like to design wrapping paper. Being a graphic designer, my infatuation with pattern and texture extends through the entire gamut- from wrapping paper, wall paper, fabric to patters found in nature. I love them all. So when Carol Clark of Local First asked me to design a local wrapping paper for the holidays I was truly fired up.

The mission: design a wrapping paper that represents your feelings about holidays in Durango.
The time frame: 2 days. Yikes! No problem.

Local First is an organization dedicated to keeping dollars in La Plata County. When it comes to buying local, many of us are pretty dedicated to making that happen, however there aren’t too many options for all the pretty wrappings and trim that simply must be a part of the gift. And that’s exactly what Carol sought to do. It’s fantastic.

There were six different designs printed this year and a list of where they can be purchased can be found online at www.localfirst.org

What’s next? I’m already discussing making origami ornaments out of the paper.

Cheers!

ZUBERFIZZ HAS A NEW 8 PACK

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

It snowed here in Durango today. Actually it dumped. And while I do love winter frolicking, I move into the season like a reluctant cat being pushed out the door in the morning. So, when the new mixed 8-pack gift boxes for Zuberfizz showed up this week, I did what any slightly depressed cold blooded person would do- I cracked open a bottle and welcomed the fizzy happy feeling. Its cheaper than anti-depressants and the bubbles do warm you up!

Zuberfizz is out the door this season with a brand spanking new, mixed soda, gift box, at the request of Cost Plus World Market. They have discovered our little Soda Company and want a piece of it. Who wouldn’t? The box features fantastic images of historic Durango. It seemed to snow more back then.

The Animas Museum, here in Durango has an incredible collection of our slice of history and I encourage anybody within range of Durango to pay it a visit.    www.animasmuseum.org

The 8-Packs can be found on the shelves on Cost Plus World Market sometime later this winter. They didn’t quite make it in time for the holiday season, but bring in the New Year cheer with some fantastic soda or buy a few for your friends.    www.worldmarket.com

CONTI RUBBER

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

Continental, specializing in high-tech rubber.

Durango was fortunate enough to have been the host of this year’s Single Speeds World Championships and who better to be there than Continental Tires passing out their newest addition to their rubber fleet.

stickier, faster, longer … that’s how we roll.

JAKI’S EYE MAKEUP REMOVER CLOTH

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

We just got the Jaki’s Eye Makeup Remover package hot off the press. This is a very soft makeup remover cloth that’s gentle on the eyes and easy to stuff in your bag and go. Keep the smudgies away.
We printed our Jaki girl up in two different colorways to bring some more appeal to the clip strip hanging system. There’s no difference between two. Are you a warm tone or a cool tone?

At the moment they can be found at Nature’s Oasis in Durango, Colorado.

HOME GROWN FESTIVAL – Insider Ale

Friday, January 30th, 2009

The Home Grown Festival in Durango Colorado was a hit last October. One of the highlights of the event was the pressing of local apples collected by students from Fort Lewis College that have been turned into beer brewed by the Bootleggers Society which is made up from the 4 local breweries (Ska Brewing, Durango Brewing , Steamworks Brewing and of course Carver Brewing Co.) in our fabulous town.

The beer is now available on tap at all the breweries for a very limited time and will also be available at the local liquors stores starting on Tuesday February 3rd. All proceeds from sales at the liquor stores will help fund next years Home Grown Festival.
